இடத்திலுள்ள சிறிய கிராமம் ‘முப்பந்தல்’.
கிராம எல்லையில் கிடுகாலான கூரையடியில் உள்ளது ‘இசக்கியம்மன்’
கோயில். முற்காலத்தில் சேர சோழ பாண்டியர்கள் சந்தித்துப் பேசும்
அந்த இடத்தில் பந்தல் போடப்பட்டிருந்தது. அதனால் அந்த கிராமத்துக்கே
முப்பந்தல் என்று பெயர் வந்தது. அருகில் உள்ள ஊர்
பணகுடி. அங்கே வாழ்ந்த பண்ணையார்

தீருவதாயில்லை! அவரது பேத்தியின் கனவில் இசக்கியம்மன் தோன்றி “முப்பந்தல்
மரத்தின் கீழே இருக்கேன். எனக்குத் தங்க இடம் கட்டிக் கொடுக்கச் சொல்லு.
பாட்டி வயித்து வலிக்கு அதுதான் மருந்து” என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறாள்.
ஊர் பெரிய மனிதர்களைக் கூட்டிக் கொண்டு முப்பந்தலுக்குப் போய்
பார்த்திருக்கிறார் பண்ணையார்.
ஒரு குழிவான கல்லில் வெற்றிலை இடித்த கறை இருந்தது. அந்தக் கல்லையே
சிலையாக்கி சின்னதாகக் கோவில் எழுப்பினார். அவர் மனiவியின் வயிற்று வலி
மாயமாய் மறைந்தது.
